Group wants woman as Ondo ACN dep gov candidate
AS preparations towards the governorship election in Ondo State continue, the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) in the state has been urged to give women a chance by nominating one of them as the running mate to its candidate, Mr Oluwarotimi Akeredolu.
The Women of Integrity in Politics (WIP) in a statement made available to newsmen in Akure, on Tuesday, said the party should toe the line of Lagos, Osun and Ekiti states by giving the position of deputy governor to a woman.
The state signed by the zonal chairman, Mrs Dolapo Bayode and the zonal secretary, Mrs Kehinde Adeniran, said the call was based on its resolved to ensure that women of the state were not marginalised in the politics of Ondo State.
The WIP noted that the adoption of Modupe Johnson, who is from Odigbo Local Government Area in Ondo South senatorial district would be in consistence with developments in Ekiti, Osun and Lagos states where women were made deputy governors and are currently discharging the responsibilities of their office dexterously and we are sure that she will not be an exception.
