THE Ogun State governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, on Tuesday, denied that there was any crack in the ranks of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) in the state, insisting that the party is a united family ready to face the local government election together.

He spoke at Ijebu-Igbo, after leading the party for a campaign round of  four local government areas, ahead of  the July 21 local government election in the state.

The governor, also during the campaign, received over 5,000 members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Peoples Party of Nigeria (PPN) who defected to the ACN in Ogun Waterside and Ijebu East local government areas.

According to him, “the insinuation that ACN has any problem within its leadership is all ruse. We are a united family going into the election and by the grace of God, the ACN will win all the seats.”

He said the ACN was ready to win the election with the support of the people, as the party was not known to be involved in election malpractices or employing violence to intimidate voters.

The governor, who expressed the commitment of his administration to improve on the welfare of the people of the state, revealed plans by the state Ministry of Works and Infrastructure to increase the number of its road repair gangs to 50, to boost its policy of zero-tolerance to pot holes.

One of the defectors, Mr Mike Osiko, who was the councillorship candidate of the  PPN in Itele ward, said he, alongside others, decided to defect to the ACN because they were satisfied with the development the Amosun-led administration was bringing to the state.

Senator Amosun was accompanied on the tour by his deputy, Mr Segun Adese-gun; state chairman of the party, Alhaji Tajudeen Bello, Ogun East senatorial district chairman, Mr Falilu Sabitu and other party leaders.
