Chevron lauds Tribune for effective reportage

The management of Chevron Nigeria Ltd., on Thursday, applauded the Tribune newspapers for their objectivity, effective reportage and wide coverage of happenings not only in the oil and gas sector but the country as a whole.
Receiving the management of the African Newspapers of Nigeria (ANN) Plc, publishers of the Tribune titles at the corporate headquarters of the company, the General Manager, Public, Government and Public Affairs, Mr Femi Odumagbo, represented by the Manager, Public, Government and Public Affairs, Mr Adesola Adebawo, said, “to develop the society in a way that is beneficial to everybody, effective communication is key,” adding that, “that is why we engage reporters and media practitioners in discussions, conferences and seminars.”
He urged other media houses to always balance their stories by obtaining facts from all the parties as being practised by the Tribune newspapers.
“The pen is mightier than the sword. When unconfirmed reports are published, people’s jobs and lives may be at risk,” he said.
“Tribune is not just a newspaper, it has a substantial meaning to most of us. Tribune is a concept that represents generational ideas,” he declared.
Earlier, the Managing Director/Editor in Chief, ANN Plc, Reverend Sam Adesua, appreciated the contributions of Chevron to its immediate environment and the society at large and stressed the need to engage the community on developmental issues as they affect them.
In his contribution, the Editor, Nigerian Tribune, Mr Edward Dickson, commended Chevron’s efficiency with regards to Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) as it affects the workforce and the community.
He added, “Nigerian Tribune is opening a new window that will attract stakeholders from the oil and gas sector to showcase their community engagement which is key to community development.”
