Governor Adams Oshiomhole of Edo State has said that the issue of who controls Edo politics between him and former chairman, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Board of Trustees, Chief Tony Anenih, ahead of the July 14 governorship election in the state had been settled as his political party, the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), is now in charge of more than two-thirds of political power bases.

Oshiomhole, who spoke at an enlarged state executive committee meeting of the party on Monday in Benin City, challenged Chief Anenih and the ruling PDP in Abuja to prove their political mettle with their connections in the Presidency and at the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in their quest to reclaim Edo State.

The governor, who taunted Anenih for his political influence across the state and the country, declared that Chief Anenih “cannot do anything” to rewrite the proven testimonies of election victories and history of achievements so far demonstrated by the ACN in the past three and a half years in the state.”

However, the Edo State chairman of the PDP, Chief Dan Orbih,  said  Oshiomhole’s statement was that of a “drowning governor” who was out to discredit the success of INEC under the leadership of Professor Attahiru Jega.
