VICE Admiral Murtala Nyako (retd) formally returned to office as the governor of Adamawa State, on Wednesday, 13 days after vacating it due to a Supreme Court judgment.

Administering the oath of office to the governor and his deputy, Mr Bala James Nggilari, was the state acting Chief Judge, Justice Bartima-wus Lawi, at the Ribadu Square, Yola.

Despite the scorching sun, many people trooped out and jam-packed the venue of the ceremony, thereby giving the security personnel a difficult time controlling the crowd.

Governor Nyako, in his address, thanked the people of the state for speaking with one voice and elected him as their governor again.

He promised to run an open door administration, with emphasis on the total re-engineering of the state towards economic transformation.

“Today is another important day in the history of Adamawa State, as it marks another milestone also in the history of democracy.”

“Our people have, once again, spoken with one voice by giving me the mandate again and I would not fail you,” Nyako said.

Dignitaries on the occasion included Governor Danbaba Suntai of Taraba State; former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar; president, African Business Round-table, Alhaji Bamanga Tukur; the Lamido Adamawa, Alhaji Barkindo Aliyu Musdafa, and other prominent traditional rulers of the state.
