President, African Business Roundtable, Alhaji Bamanga Tukur, on Wednesday, called for consensus among the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) stakeholders in Adamawa State, to deliver the state to PDP during the governorship election holding in the state tomorrow.

Tukur made the call in Abuja, when members of the party paid him a visit at his residence at Wuse II, Abuja, stating that the intervention by President Goodluck Jonathan on resolving the conflict in Adamawa State politics had compelled leaders of the party in the state to ensure that the PDP returned to power with the poll.

The Tafidan Adamawa said PDP elders in the state should regard the party as their pride and a means of attracting the Federal Government’s attention to the state, stressing that the party could not afford to lose the state to any of the opposition parties which, according to him, were poised to take over Adamawa.

Tukur, who is also the chairman, The New Partnership for African Development (NEPAD) Business Group, called on leaders of the party in the state to take a lesson from states currently being ruled by opposition parties, noting that it may take extra efforts by PDP members to return such states to the centre.

He said Adamawa would be better off in the hands of the PDP rather than being taken over by the opposition, owing to needless wrangling among members.

According to him, the need to keep Adamawa within the PDP fold had necessitated the intervention of President Jonathan earlier in the week.

He said “we leaders of the party met with Mr President on Tuesday and everybody emptied their minds on the current situation of politics in the state. Mr President, who professed love for Adamawa, appealed to all of us to work like a team to make PDP win the govenorship election in Adamawa State.”
