A group of young Nigerians, led by a popular musician, Charles Oputa, alias Charly Boy, Publisher of Ovation Magazine, Mr. Dele Momodu, famous actress, Omotola Jalade Ekeinde and Stella Damasus, on Tuesday, caused a stir at the National Assembly premises, where they had camped all through working hours in protest against state of the nation.

Clad in white T-shirts and clutching placards with inscriptions on the state of the nation, the protesters who referred to themselves as Enough is Enough Nigeria, chanted anti-government songs, protesting aloud that it was high time situation of things changed in Nigeria. 

The protesters mostly of school ages, who were mobilised from Lagos, began to file towards the National Assembly main gate as early as 10.00 am and motivated by Mr. Momodu and the actresses, as their attempt to gain entry into the main premises were stiffly rebuffed by Security operatives.

Civil in their conduct, the demonstrators at the strongly barricaded entrance of the National Assembly, started by haranguing anti-riot policemen drafted to the place, impressing it on them the necessity of the protests they were embarking on.

Having successfully disarmed the operatives with soft words about the compelling needs for the demonstration, the demonstrators pleaded to be allowed to marched to the two chambers of the National Assembly just to have one-on-one discussion with both the Senate President, Senator David Mark and the Speaker, House of Representatives, Honourable Dimeji Bankole.

Realising that they were demanding for too much, the operatives, led by the Chief Security Officer of the National Assembly, Colonel Okere, swiftly formed a human shield against the main gates in an apparent move to prevent the protesters from advancing to the main arena of the Dome.

Unable to make the security operatives see reason why they should move inside the Dome, Momodu, Omotola, Charly Boy and others resolved to engaged in some session of pushing and shoving, and eventually broke the human shield by the police, just to make further advancement towards the main arena.
