School proprietress kidnapped, two students shot in Edo

The proprietress of Gloryland School, Igarra, Akoko-Edo Local Government Area of Edo State, Mrs. Glory Eze, was on Monday, abducted from the premises of the school by gunmen, who shot two students in the process.

The shot students were  reported to be receiving treatment at a private clinic.

The school operates nursery, primary and post-primary classes.

The suspected kidnappers were said to have entered the school compound in Igarra early Monday, shortly after the morning assembly on the pretext that they came to seek information on how to register a pupil and suddenly started shooting sporadically.

In course of the shooting which triggered a race for safety, the suspected abductors forced the proprietress into their vehicle, just as they shot two male students who attempted to stop them.

“She (proprietress) stood with us in the morning assembly and they, about four of them in suits came into the compound and pretended that they wanted to inquire about registration of their ward but suddenly, we started hearing gunshots and we all rushed out of our classes, but they shot two boys who are receiving treatment now and then went with our proprietress”, one of the school teachers said.
