THE Osun State governor, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola, has assured both staff and students of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso, that the joint ownership crisis rocking the institution would not have negative impact on them.

Speaking at the distinguished lecture of the Centre for Peace and Conflict Studies (CEPACS), University of Ibadan, on Thursday, Oyinlola expressed the hope that the issue would be resolved amicably.

The governor, who reiterated that disengagement from the institution was not in the best interest of the government and people of the state, said the idea was moved by the Oyo State government.

Oyinlola, who noted the pains and difficulty involve in disengagement from the institution, said it was unfortunate that the matter had to be dragged to this level.

He said the owner states were looking to positive resolution of the crisis, adding that it would not affect the fortunes of both staff and students of the institution.

Speaking on the lecture, entitled the imperative of peace and development, Prince Oyinlola said despite the rhythmic beats of deep rumblings of discontent that cut across the world, there was unanimity of mind on the need for the people to engender peace, security and economic development.

He said the future of the world might depend on how leaders remained committed to the evolution of peace and security as potent vehicles for the development of sound political and economic culture.

While noting that information was crucial to peace and development, he charged the media to guard against playing both functional and dysfunctional roles.

He stressed the need for a formidable barrier in the way of intolerance and racial, national or religious superiority, saying that widespread international terrorism must be viewed as criminal motives, which must be halted in the interest of humanity.
