The Ondo State Police Command, on Thursday, paraded 52 suspected criminals and kidnappers that had allegedly been terrorising the state in the last two months.

Those that were arrested by the police were members of a robbery gang that attacked three first generation banks in the state about four months ago, kidnappers of a 10-year-old boy and student cultists.

Commissioner of Police, Ondo State Command, Ballah Nasarawa, explained that 15 of the suspects in June this year, robbed two of the banks in Akure metropolis where some persons including a nursing mother were killed.

The gang was also said to be responsible for another bank robbery in Ikare area of the state two weeks after that of Akure and carted away millions of Naira.

Nasarawa said that two of the 10 suspected bank robbers were arrested in Effurun, Delta State , four in Oyo State , one in Lagos and three in Ogun State while trying to rob people..

The police boss added that the suspects were identified through the CCTV footage retrieved from the banks they robbed and that they have all confessed to various bank operations in recent times.

According to him, items recovered from the suspects were one military multipurpose machine gun No KW 276, two Military rockets launchers, five rocket launchers, four dynamites, three strands of explosive cords among others.

Others were 115 magazines painted in Military colours with 30 rounds of live ammunition each, 950 rounds of 7.62 by 39 mm live ammunition, 572 rounds of 7.62 by 51 mm live ammunition and one empty magazines painted in Military colours.
