PDP North West zone has no power to choose acting chairman - Kebbi PDP
Kebbi State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has accused the national and zonal chairmen of the party of imposing acting chairman on the state PDP contrary to the PDP constitution (as amended in 2009) and the general wishes of the party followers in the state.
According to the PDP legal adviser, Aminu Usman, both the national and zonal chairmen could not have recognised Alhaji Sulei-man Nasiha as the state acting chairman for the party when the duo had been fully communicated of the events in the state and of the newly appointed acting state chairman, Alhaji Haruna Samaila Jada.
He pointed out that, even the same purported state acting chairman was part and parcel of the state executive committee meeting that adopted Alhaji Samaila Jada, as the state acting chairman of the party stating that, the purported state acting chairman was also a signatory to the letter that conveyed the decisions to both the national and zonal secretariats respectively.
The legal adviser stated further that, the zonal secretariat was represented at the swearing in of the new acting chairman of the party, saying they could not claim to be ignorant and if they suspected anything wrong, they ought to have followed the PDP constitution and not to impose a member as the acting state chairman.
