PRESIDENT Goodluck Jonathan should not cave in under intense pressure and blackmail being mounted and orchestrated by the forces that hold the judiciary and Nigerian democracy by the jugular.

From the unedited report of the panel set up by the Nigeria Judicial Council (NJC) to intervene in the altercation between former Chief Justice Aloysius-Alu and former PCA, Yisa Ayo Salami published in the series of the Nigerian Tribune titles, it could be established that the process that led to the confirmation of Salami as Court of Appeal president was hastened and influenced by some extraneous forces.

Salami ought to have been dismissed and prosecuted in the face of overwhelming evidence in support of this claim, instead of a pat on the wrist as represented by his suspension.

No wonder Nigeria is where she is today because of the irredeemably corrupt legal system and crookedly manipulated rule of law.

It is sad and very disheartening that such gross irresponsible conduct and betrayal of confidence and trust could be defended and supported by a section of media, political and legal class that by their own conduct and disposition in the face of unassailable facts have shown that they are myopic, selfish and arrogant.

With these people so strategically positioned, the Nigerian masses and judicial system are doomed.

Musdapher should be extremely careful, the last chapter of his career is being unconsciously edited by himself.

May God bless the spirit of the irreplaceable and irrepressible Gani Fawehinmi, the only recognised, consistent and untainted advocate of the masses who was never swayed by pre- cuniary and political consideration.
