A recent research by a foreign organisation about governance at the state level in the country revealed that the Imo State governor, Chief Rochas Okorocha, has performed more than most of his counterparts in other states.

The list also has the Akwa Ibom State governor, Godswill Akpabio; Lagos governor, Babatunde Raji Fashola; Rivers governor, Rotimi Amaechi, as some of the governors who have matched action with words in their respective states.

It might be surprising to other Nigerians that Okorocha is performing so creditable well. Here is a man who has changed the face of governance in the state in just over a year.

We must not forget that before now, Okorocha never had interest in the governorship position, as he was always contesting for the presidency.

A lot of Nigerians, however, didn’t see him as a presidential material, instead, they urged him to focus on his philanthrophy.

Being a multi-millionnaire, Okorocha had always assisted, and still assists the less-privileged with his God-given financial resources.

There is virtually no state in Nigeria that the Okorocha philanthropy is not felt.

This, perhaps, is the reason why Imo people supported him at the polls when he contested for the election last year.

A philanthropist doesn’t need to steal the people’s money. It is this money, therefore, that the governor is using to transform the state.

What the exemplary leadership of Okorocha is telling Nigerians is that; in states where the governor is not performing, then it means the money is being diverted elsewhere.

I, therefore, want to use this opportunity to call on all Nigerians to support Rochas Okorocha whenever he wants to run for president again.
