Message to the President on Justice Ayo Salami
President Goodluck Jonathan should not cave in to the intense pressure being mounted on him by the forces in the judiciary.
From the unedited report of the panel set up by the NJC to intervene in the altercation between the former Chief Justice, Katsina Alu and former President of the Court of Appeal, Justice Isa Ayo Salami, published in a series by the Nigerian Tribune, it could be established that the process that led to the confirmation of Salami as Court Appeal president was hastened and influenced by some external forces.
These same forces, as could also be established from the report, succeeded in using Salami to do the hatchet job in the case of Osun and Ekiti states. Salami ought to have been dismissed and prosecuted in the face of overwhelming evidence in support of this claim. Instead of a pat on the wrist as represented by his suspension.
It is sad, very disheartening that such gross irresponsibility and reprehensible conduct and betrayal of confidence and trust could be defended and supported by a section of the media, political and legal class who by their own cultic conduct and disposition in the face of unassailable funds have shown that they are myopic, selfish and arrogant.
