One of the problems facing some South-East states is erosion. In most cases, the gullies created by this erosion, are huge enough that they consume buildings.

Although for sometime now, the Federal Government has, through the Ministry of Environment, tried to support these communities, I, however, want to call on governors of the five South East states, to come together and kick-start a policy that will encourage tree-planting.

Tree planting is one of the methods through which erosion can be tackled, and adequate information on this should be passed across to the people.

People should also try to encourage planting fruit-producing trees like mango, guava, etc.

With this, two purposes can be achieved.

First, it will help in stopping erosion, and second, it will produce fruits for the people during the production season.

I, therefore, want the South East governors  to pay more attention to erosion in the region.
