THE members of the public have had enough from both sides-the government and members of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), over the leadership tussle in the union. The duo of the government and the union have stuck to their gun, as the Governor Abiola Ajimobi insisted in having input in the leadership of the union, while the NURTW members also stood their ground against the imposition of leaders on the union, according to radio and newspapers’ report.

But the big question from the public is, in whose interest are they working? Is it for the public or their selfish interest?

The fact still remains that both Alhaji Akinsola Lateef a.k.a Tokyo and Mukaila Lamidi and their followers are on the wanted list of the Oyo Police Command, while the union members are emphatically making it clear that they don’t want these militants in the union anymore.

However, it appears from the look of things that our governor has a special interest in Tokyo, who happens to be one of the most wanted suspects for  crimes perpetrated while he was the leader of the union.

With the alleged imposition of Tokyo by the Governor on the union, the question is: when will the people of Oyo State be able to sleep with their two eyes closed? Is Oyo State not sitting on a  keg of gun powder, which can explode again at anytime?

If the Governor has special interest in Tokyo and his followers, can’t he make him a commissioner in the state cabinet or chairman of a parastatal, instead of imposing a wanted man, according to the Police, on the union?

 Given the look of things,  the Governor should, for the sake of the people, resist the temptation of accelerating the heart beat of the poor masses of the state, in the event of any eventuality, as many families are yet to forget in a hurry what happened in June last year, when innocent people lost their lives.

Although, security measures are being put in place in the state, truth is, much destruction of life and property would have taken place, within split seconds, before the arrival of security men, at the scene of any violent confrontation between two opposing groups.

Our indefatigable governor should, please, for the sake of peace in Oyo State, rid off Tokyo, Auxiliary and their followers from the NURTW, and make the Union free of politics, if truly there is no political motives behind the imposition of Tokyo on the
