The Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational and Associated Institutions (NASU) has commended the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU), over the 2009 agreement signed by the Federal Government  with the three non-teaching staff unions in Nigerian universities, represented by SSANU, NASU and the National Association of Academic Technologists (NAAT).

The Chairman of NASU, University of Agriculture, Makurdi branch, Comrade Moses T. Asanger, who spoke on behalf of NASU chairmen across Nigerian universities, acknowledged the role played by SSANU in the achievement recorded so far by the three unions in respect of the 2009 Agreement.

The NASU chairman, who was speaking while presenting a goodwill message during the National Executive Council (NEC) meeting of SSANU, held in the university, praised SSANU for the well articulated thought on topical issues affecting the non-teaching staff in the Nigerian universities.

He stated that NASU acknowledged and recognised the enormous influence constantly exerted on industrial relations practice by the three unions through SSANU, “a trade union with unique historical experience and remarkable evolutionary details.”

 Comrade Assanger said: “Before I proceed with the goodwill message, I want to commend the leadership of SSANU, UAM branch, for the initiative to host this great event in our institution.

“To the NEC officers, your presence, no doubt, has added impetus and glamour to this university and SSANU at large. I also acknowledge most sincerely your leadership style which has given the three unions (SSANU, NASU and NAAT) the achievements recorded so far.

“I also believe that the three strong unions are always in perfect agreement, which I do hope that with sense of urgency the present government will address various negotiations and agreements reached with us some years back.”
