NOW a very critical moment in Nigeria’s history and destiny is hopping by and winging to its destination. A very critical moment but not the most critical ever and never will it be the most remarkably critical in the annals of our history, politics and destiny. We are suspending the series begun five or so weeks ago on this note as I have been so directed by the HOLY SPIRIT DIVINE. And O William Blake may Holy Thursday of Innocence be the Holy Monday of Nigeria’s destiny! Naturally, critical as the recent Labour strike in our history might be or seem to many of us, at least on account of it being the longest direct onslaught the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) and its allies unleashed on the supreme lords of governance in Nigeria, students interested in continued studies in the phenomenology of political experience in our country will aver that what we had just experienced was nothing short of a numinous event. In fact, students of the phenomenon of politics and religion (and even of mysticism and of esoteric science as well) will hardly think otherwise. And when I say “students,” I am using the term in its loose and tight sense(s) and meaning(s) simultaneously. Thus the averagely knowledgeable person in the street as well as the above averagely knowledgeable person in the class-room can understand and interpret the Labour-called general strike and how it ended as one event that launches Nigeria on the path of the “Peaceable Realm of GOD,” which must be our country’s destiny.

Whether Labour capitulated or not, whether or not the fifth columnists in Labour negotiated away the bliss of the Nigerian masses, or whether or not Labour generally back-stabbed or chest-stabbed us all including our preeminent writers such as Achebe, JP Clarke and Wole Soyinka, and the Civil Society Organisations whose members dared even their respective fates to bring to fruition Nigeria’s destined aspirations, we are in no way faced with the future of an illusion. The strike and its positive disturbances and aches may be over for now, but the grace and personality of the Nigerian masses are assured, and the coming Messiah will take the recent development into future historical account as he conceives of how to give real bliss to the people. Yes.

As we have said in this column a number of times, he who is on the way has the heart of a lion, an AWOLOWO, but he in every way belongs profoundly to the realm, that Peaceable Realm of God which will help create in us as never before love of God, love of our ethnical neighbours, and even of our ethnical enemies as well “with all our heart, and strength.” Simply put, with all our might, we shall halt the current dehumanization that seems to be what is what in the land. Indeed, terrorism, armed robbery, kidnapping, arson, exploitation and other social, immoral and nihilistic acts not listed here are different means through which we dehumanize one another, and which shall cease to be when the Messiah arrives, the Messiah who shall spread prosperity to Nigerians without discrimination and who shall be fully committed to giving us justice in every sense of justice. Are we manufacturing or conjuring up a Utopia? No, no, no countless times.

Now it is apposite to say this: the harmattan wind of affliction in the land, which the Labour strike, or better put, onslaught exemplifies has its deep metaphysical connotations. Indeed, the contest we have just experienced was kind of other-worldly, as I feel the need to persuade you to see it as such by quoting some pertinent texts that found me recently on the subject pertaining to Nigeria’s destiny: “My dear, I have just read your article of Monday, 16|01|2012 in the Nigerian Tribune. I want to state that the primate who predicted the emergence of a messiah in the first quarter of this year when there is no election, and to which you concurred, cannot go beyond the Astral realm. We who are spiritual (W.S.S.) have altered it. Time shall tell.” This message from someone well known to me is quite text-explanatory. I understood (and understand still ) its import. Yet I still engaged this member of W.S.S. on phone at my expense for – wait for it- full thirty minutes. What he espoused and which was ascribable to his doctrine and belief was classically metaphysical: it rhymed perfectly with the doctrine of astral travellers of the ancients, but his words did not make shivers run or ride up and down my holy body. Yes, my holy body, and I say this without qualms. Thereafter, I engaged Primate Olabayo, our celebrated and illustrious prophet, in a follow-up discussion after I forwarded the above-mentioned text to him. The Elijah of our time simply retorted as follows:”God is God. Let’s wait and see. Jesus is supreme. Let’s wait. Nigeria’s destiny is as defined by the one and only God I serve, whose message I deliver. Let’s wait. Jesus! He is in control. Let’s wait and see. And doubt not O child of Issacher!”

Before the almost twin “encounters” above, a text had found me from a pastor of a church which he wanted me to believe to be a sacredly revolutionary church. I shall dwell on this yet to be named pastor, who is unknown to me, some day, this pastor who has been sending me scintillating texts on the Nigerian condition. For now, I shall share his message with you, my dear, dear readers: “Your piece of today, Monday, 02|01|20012 is simply wonderful. It is beyond human comprehension. JID! How did you know the tenets? You are also one who is divinely endowed. We will meet soon. To the doubters, do not bother. Owners of mandala will settle it soon… GOD is HIS OWN INTERPRETER.”

Why have I dwelt on these “encounters”? Faith, belief, religion, mysticism and oracular consultations have their roles and places in the life and destiny, and politics and governance of Nigeria as they similarly have their roles and places in the lives and destinies of other nations, for example, USA, Britain, Greece, Russia, France, Italy, Germany, Spain, Holland, Portugal, Canada, China, India, Japan, Brazil, Libya, Egypt, Iraq, Iran, Tunisia and many others. It is needless for me to make elaborate and detailed references to the listed nations in regard to our theme. Yet I must beseech my dear, dear readers to make at least a slight effort to peruse the annals of any of the named nations in order to appreciate my prophetic endeavour in the present enterprise.

May our genuine prophets, primates and pastors do their duties to and for our fatherland as they should or ought to do in the same way that our scientists and mystics should and ought to do theirs as well. And may all prayer contractors cease to be in our land. Meanwhile, may we await the Messiah in his glory to take Nigeria to the Peaceable Realm of God….where every ethnical “division is healed and fear is banished from every heart, and where rich and poor feast together at God’s banquet table, “ to borrow James Loney’s words. Time will tell. Let’s wait and see. God who is His own interpreter is watching as Nigeria hops to her secret and open destiny.
