Al-Makura’s aide raps political elite on Nigeria’s problems

SPECIAL Adviser to Governor Umaru Tanko Al-Makura of Nasarawa State on National Integration, Mr Ezedinma Nonso David, has said the inability of the political elite in the country to forge unity among the people and put the necessary facilities together for their well being were the major problems facing the nation.

The special adviser, who made the statement in an exclusive interview with Gamji in his Lafia office, also explained that a good working relationship among the various tribes that made up of the country was necessary for the well being of Nigeria, being a panacea for addressing diverse problems the country is undergoing presently.

David, who hails from Anambra State, however commended Governor Umaru Tanko Al-Makura for appointing him into his cabinet.

According to him, “Al-Makura’s vision and commitment to national unity has been inspirational,’’ just as he described the governor as a shining example among the northern state governors in the art of setting the pace on national unity.

He said, “The issue of indigeneship is a problem caused by our political elite. If we are able to trace the origin of this, you will discover that it was a means of dividing the people with a view to using them for their selfish reasons.”

David disclosed that Nasarawa State had undertaken inter-faith exchange programmes between Muslim and Christian students with a view to enhancing the understanding of each other on religious matters.
