Borno State governor, Alhaji Kashim Shettima, has urged the Shehu of Borno, Alhaji Abubakar Umar Ibn Garbai Al-Amin El-Kanemi, not to be bothered by an attempt to his life through a bomb blast in Maiduguri, penultimate week

The governor also entreated him to continue to play the roles required of him as a royal father in maintaining the peace and security within his domain.

The governor gave the words of encouragement to the royal father when he visited the palace shortly after arriving from a trip out of the state, just as he commiserated with him on the ugly incidence of the suicide bombing near a mosque he had worshiped.

The Shehu, he said, should accept what happened as an act of God, even though it was a terrible experience.

He used the occasion to appeal to the members of the Boko Haram sect to sheathe their swords by halting the sustained killing of innocent citizens, calling on them to make themselves available for dialogue.

He said that the government would always be ready to accept and rehabilitate them into the main stream of the society.

According to Shettima, Borno State has always been a very peaceful state and had for long been a home to people from other states of the federation who he said even preferred the education system for their children. He noted that all non indigenes in the state have been conducting their legitimate businesses without any form of harassment ever.

He said with the measures being put in place by the state government, Borno State would soon regain its lost glory while coming fully back to life.

Responding, the Shehu of Borno, the Shehu thanked the governor for the sympathy visit and assured him that he would never relent in performing his traditional roles as a Royal farther, having pulled the incident behind him.

The royal father, all the same, appealed to the Deputy Governor Alhaji. Zannah Umar Mustapha and other eminent persons in the state not to be discouraged from joining him for the subsequent Jumat praying session in his palace, despite the experience of the bomb blast, lamenting that the incident occurred on the first time he worshiped in the Palace.
