Jonathan locks out Maduekwe, Babalola •For coming late to meeting

Share

VICE-PRESIDENT Goodluck Jonathan, on Monday, wielded the big stick against two ministers by locking them out of a meeting for coming late. Foreign Affairs Minister, Chief Ojo Maduekwe, and his counterpart in the Ministry of  Power, Mr Lanre Babalola, were embarrassed when they had the door shut against them for coming late by 15 minutes and 20 minutes  respectively for a meeting slated for 1 p.m.

Maduekwe was stunned when he was told by the security that he could not go inside the hall for a meeting on investment.

The foreign affairs minister explained his lateness, saying  he got a call for the meeting five minutes to its commencement while Babalola, on his part, said he was not aware of the meeting until he got a call 10 minutes to its commencement.

They had to solicit for the assistance of the Chief Security Officer (CSO) to the vice-president to get into the meeting hall.

The vice-president had recently abandoned a meeting that was scheduled with a group because  several ministers arrived  late. The meeting had to be rescheduled as those expected at the meeting came some minutes after the meeting was supposed to have commenced.

The vice-president had recently warned some ministers who he accused of not performing up to expectation to expect trouble as he gradually begins to assume the responsibilities of president.
