Rivers govt to partner PHCCIMA on conference

The Rivers State House of Assembly has concluded plans to engage stakeholders in the oncoming annual oil and gas conference organised by the Rivers State Government.

The Chairman, House Committee on Energy and Natural Resources, Hon. Evans Bapakaye Bipi, disclosed that the third Port Harcourt International Oil and Gas Conference and Exhibition would further deepen oil and gas activities in the state.

The Rivers Assembly’s Committee on Energy and Natural Resources and the Oil and Gas Trade Group of the Port Harcourt Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (PHCCIMA) are ready to ensure that the conference becomes a world-class event, with the support of other stakeholders.

In a statement issued after a news conference in Port Harcourt, Bipi disclosed that many resource persons would present papers at the conference, while the major players in the oil and gas industry, as well as other stakeholders, would also participate in the exhibition.

This year’s conference with theme: “The Nigerian Content Act and Deregulation: Issues and Prospects,” would hold between September 25 and 27 at the Main Auditorium of the Rivers House of Assembly.

The news conference was attended by the Chairman of the Oil and Gas Trade Group of PHCCIMA, Chief Franklin Dandeson Gbupo and the group’s Secretary, Jude Oliver, among other eminent personalities.  

The chairman of the House Committee on Energy and Natural Resources said: “The Rivers House of Assembly saw PHCCIMA as a partner and a veritable source for the effective mobilisation and involvement of the Organised Private Sector (OPS) in the noble venture, which has led to the synergy between the two institutions in the organisation of the conference.
