The Ogbagi-Akoko community in Akoko North-West Local Government Area of Ondo State has raised N3.5 million in support of the second term bid of the state governor, Dr Olusegun Mimiko.

The community, which threw its weight behind the ambition of the governor, expressed the readiness of the people to ensure that Mimiko was returned as the governor after the governorship election slated for October 20.

The money was realised at a fund raising ceremony, organised by the people of Ogbaki-Akoko in Ward 6 of the local government.

The people said the event was organised to show their appreciation for the good work that the governor had been doing in the state in the last three and half years.

Speaking at the programme, a leader of the community, Tope Adebambo, said the people of the community would not wait for the campaign office before they commence campaign in Akoko North West Local Government.

He said, “We want the oppositions to know that we are ready for the election and we cannot wait till fund is released by the campaign office before we launch ourselves out. It is our desire to re-elect Governor Mimiko and the work must start immediately.

“This fund raising is done by the people of Ogbagi. We did not involve any outsider, having realised the fact that campaign requires a lot of financial backing and we are already set for work so we decided to raise the fund within ourselves. Now that we are set, we are kick-starting immediately”.

Among the donors at the launch were Mr Felix Amos, a United States based businessman, Hon. Felix Oguntimehin, Prince Debo Adepoju, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on PPMU, Hon. Bawa Akinsanya, TESCOM Commissioner, Hon. Tope Adebambo, Hon. Razak Apalowo, Pastor Oke, Prince Ogunyomade, who defected from ACN to Labour Party and several other community leaders.
