THE former Chairman of Okene Local Government Area of Kogi State, Alhaji Yahaya Karaku, has appealed to about 300 workers in the local government to exercise patience as their salary would be paid by the management team of the local government council.

Some youths, numbering over 300, engaged by the council, had warned the Liaison Officer One, Mr Ahmed Ogembe,  to pay them their salary or else they will take up arms again.

The youth were employed after disarmament of weapons from the youths by the state government during the crisis in the area which left many people dead.

Alhaji karaku who is now a Special Adviser to the Kogi State governor, also called on the members of the National and State Assembly from Kogi Central to cooperate with the state government to bring development to the area.

He said cooperation and peace in the area were what the government needed from the people, saying that women empowerment was around the corner, which he said women from the area would benefit.

Alhaji Karaku, while suing for peace, however, warned youths in the area to desist from criminal activities as the law enforcement agents are out to fight crime in the state.
