A call has gone to the members of the society to stop discriminating against the underprivileged.

This call was made by the president of Adenike Foundation, a non-governmental organisation, Mrs Adenike Dairo, in Ibadan during the New Year party organised by the foundation for the underprivileged members of the society.

She noted that their creation “was not an act of error on the part of the Almighty (as) He is the only one that is capable of creating all of us in different shapes, colours and languages.”

She, therefore, called on the well-to-do to extend to them a little of what God has edowed them with so that they too can have a sense of belonging.

“We now live in a world where we seem to be too busy to pause to think for those who do not have the ability to pursue that which we all pursue, due to no fault of theirs.”

She disclosed that the party, which  started five years ago, has become a forum to bring succor to the less-privileged in order to make them have a feel of the happiness that other people feel during the season.

In a speech at the occasion, the State Director of the National Orientation Agency, Mr. Femi Mapaderun, who spoke through his deputy. Mrs Dolapo Dosumu, commended the founder of the non-governmental organisation and asked other members of the society to support the foundation in its noble effort.

He advised parents to stop the habit of discriminating against children born with one challenge or the other as a way of eradicating child abandonment.

Also, Alhaja Bola Aderibigbe, the Managing Director of Bolade Travels, commened the president of the foundation for her effort and prayed that God will continue to strengthen her.

The occasion, which was attended by  inmates from about 25 homes from Ibadan and Ijebu-Ode, witnessed presentation of  songs, drama sketches and dance by members of the various homes.

Among dignitaries that attended the party were Mrs Abiola Ladoja, wife  of the Oyo State Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Chairman of Accor Party in Ibadan North-East Local Government, Chief Joseph Sunday Omolere and a former member of the state Primary Education Board (SPEB), Alhaji Wasiu  Emiola.
