APCON discusses outdoor advertising in Lagos

As part of its commitment to the growth and development of advertising practice in the country, the Advertising Practitioners’ Council of Nigeria (APCON) has announced its decision to focus this year’s advertising forum,

scheduled to hold  on  July 6, in Lagos, on a comprehensive discourse of outdoor advertising regulations and control in the country.

Tagged:  ‘Outdoor Advertising Regulation and Control in Nigeria,’  the forum, which will be declared opened by the Speaker of the House of Representative, Aminu Tambuwal, would have as its Lead Speaker Chief Tony Idigbe,  a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), amongst other notable speakers.

The 2012 advertising forum, according to the Chairman Governing Council of APCON, Mr Lolu Akinwunmi, would review the outdoor practice and regulatory environment with the aim of identifying grey areas and charting the way forward.

Speaking on the planned forum, the Registrar of APCON, Alhaji Garba Bello Kankarofi, explained that “advertising stakeholders from the various sectors of the industry, officials of various tiers and agencies of government in Nigeria and all parties involved in outdoor advertising business in Nigeria are expected as participants at the event.”

He noted that the outcome of the forum would inform the apex regulatory body’s  new policy and regulation on the operations and practice of Out-of-Home advertising in the country.
