Bi-Courtney Aviation Services Limited (BASL) is embarking on a multi-billion naira power enhancement project at the Murtala Mohammed Airport Terminal Two (MMA2) Ikeja, Lagos.

The project is aimed at providing a conducive environment at the terminal and make it the most patronised in the country.

The first phase of the project, which will sustain alternate power supply to the Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN), started on Monday, August 6, 2012, and will last for about 60 days.

A statement issued by the company’s spokes-man, Steve Omolale-Ajulo, said the completion of the first phase is expected to bring added advantage to the terminal.

According to the statement, the first phase involves capacity upgrade of two of the four-unit generators supplying power to the terminal, adding that “BASL hopes that all the relevant agencies and bodies will co-operate to ensure the success of this project.”

Omolale-Ajulo added: “The project became necessary to ensure and guarantee continuous uninterrupted power supply, which is one of the best qualities MMA2 is known for since it began operation five years ago. It is also our desire that airline operation is undisturbed and airport concessionaires and users have a comfortable place to operate from.

“Having been used to uninterrupted power supply in the last five years, we cannot offer users of MMA2 anything less. This project is one of the measures we have put in place to ensure that the terminal remains the flagship of airport terminals in Nigeria with the best of round-the-clock and well-maintained facilities.”

He said that all necessary measures have been put in place throughout the duration of the project to minimise discomfort to all users of the terminal and other buildings within the premises, adding that “BASL is counting on the understanding and support of all users of MMA2, as we embark on this all-important project.”
