HE common belief among some people, especially farmers and yam consumers that any specie of yam that does not have a white colour is not good for human consumption and that the price of such a tuber of yam should be cheaper than other species of yams, including yellow yam (Dioscorea cayensis), has been described as a mere fallacy, old fable and an hypothesis which has no scientific backing.

IF Nigeria is to find a solution to its food insecurity, then there is the need to increase the tempo of  awareness on development and practice of organic  farming.

THE Director-General, International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA), Ibadan, Oyo State, Dr Nteranya Sanginga, have advised agriculture researchers in the country to make sure that their works, especially research, is directed towards achieving a significant and impactfull result which members of the public would appreciate by seeing its manifestation on their standard of living.

All Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN), is an umbrella body of practising farmers in the country and has helped many farmers to achieve their goals since its establishment.
