‘Colouration in yam is not spiritual attack on farmers’T

HE common belief among some people, especially farmers and yam consumers that any specie of yam that does not have a white colour is not good for human consumption and that the price of such a tuber of yam should be cheaper than other species of yams, including yellow yam (Dioscorea cayensis), has been described as a mere fallacy, old fable and an hypothesis which has no scientific backing.
