THE FATE OF POLYTECHNIC GRADUATES

Nigeria today has grown into a country where discrimination and hatred is the main motive behind siblings of the same parent. This is the case of Nigerian Tertiary Institutions as the discrimination rate between University and polytechnic graduates is on the increase as seconds tick by.
This is so unjust and unfair to the party suffering it the most – the Polytechnic Graduates. This has caused a lot of chaos among fellow students which is not suppose to be. This has generated a lot of problems in Nigeria Labour Market. An example is the case of two graduates (one University graduate and the other, Polytechnic graduate) who applied to the same organization and for the same position but in which the university graduate was preferred to the polytechnic graduate even though the latter was better off in term of performance. This is another reason why in Nigeria today, we are clamoring for peace and unity but it seem like it a life-long dream and desire. The development that would have not taken more than one year is taking us almost a decade. The big questions are:
• Should Nigeria continue in this line, what would become of the polytechnic graduates in the next five to ten years?
• Should Polytechnics be wiped off from Nigeria?
• Should polytechnic graduates stop entering the labour market?
• What is the federal government doing to curb the ugly situation?
When all these questions have been correctly answered, then we can start talking about Nigeria and a better education.
