Police Brutal killings of innocent citizens........Way out

Some few days ago some police at the check point killed shot at innocent citizens coming from a wolimat ceremony of family friend,their daughter was killed and the police had the gut to still beat the man whose daughter they killed and locked the man up.This incidence happened in Lagos.Same week,some RRS knocked down 3 pple at when they were driving recklessly,the LAS Police PRO still had the gut to quantify these people`s lives with N120,000 that the police spent on medical bills.My Q? was this payment paid by the officers who knocked these ppl down or by the tax payers.

Same week in Ibadan,this useless unprofessional police while escourting bullion van killed a begger at Ring Road and the OYS Police PRO said that these Police could not be traced as they escourted the bullion van to Ibadan from another state.

Something good needs to be done,because tomorrow it could be somebody you know or I know,I dont pray this happens to any of us,but something good needs to be terribly done.We are even safer in the hand of ARMED ROBBERS THAN THE NIGERIA POLICE FORCE.Or AM I LYING?

There is NO way out other than to have states police. It is commonsense and an act of God. You don't put the security of your life and property in the hand of someone who doesn't understand your culture and your value. Imagine a very rich Dog employing Lion as a security guard, one day he will end up in the Lion's stomach.

Job of policing required familarity with the community and indulgence towards the community you are policing. You can never get this from Yoruba, Hausa, Ijaw or Igbo officer being posted to police nonYoruba, non Hausa, non Ijaw or non Igbo people...impossible.

If governmnet is sincere about this, it should find out how many extra judicial killing happened and correlate how it happened and the people involved; I can bet you, 2 out of 3 will be a situation of Igbo officer killing an Hausa or Yoruba victim or a Yoruba or Hausa killing the Igbo victim. 99% of extra judicial killing, accidental discharged and corruption in the Nigeria police is caused by the irresponsible national police we are operating.

Therefore, the only way out is to let each society police itself by it's own people (community policing)

I quite agree with your opinion, but lets look at it from this angle and with my own opinion; Are these men/women imported from another country to come and police our country? No! they are part and parcel of our society and were all recruited from among us, so with this I can say they are reflection of even you.
Are they not our brothers/sisters? To this I'll say based on my opinion above, they live among us and we know them very well so you should know that they are also human and not perfect.
Are they not trained? To this I'll say they are trained, but no matter how well they are trained don't forget as I said earlier that they are no one is perfect.
Are this mentioned problems peculiar to our country alone? For those of us who watch CNN and other cable television stations that cover news all over the world you will see that this issue of police brutality and things of such are very rampant even in the so called developed countries. So it is all over we should not look at this issue as if we are the only victim. Also many things has happened so our highly placed elite in all sphere of life outside the country which nobody heard of, even those countries' local tv stations never air it. You can ask our present information minister as well as Pastor Tunde Bakare among others. They will have many experience to tell you. So our media should please not blow issues out of proportion.
Do the society even desire a change? To this, I'll say NO. This is because we like how things are goings in a corrupt manner. The issue of making the Police to remain as puppets in the hand of the high and mighty is one, they never want to let go. The way the members of public relate with Police is another, they always like to provoke the Police at every opportunity they have. Or what do you think would happen by the time a civilian tells a policeman on duty under the sun that his tax is being used to pay the policeman's salary, does is it mean that the policeman himself is not paying tax even more than the so called civilian? You can ask the Lagos PPRO and he would tell you what he experienced even as a senior officer, you can now imagine how a junior in rank would have behaved under such a circumstance.
Finally let us join hands together and make this country great. We the society are the police and vice-versa.

You don't seem to get my point.
What we (educated+enlightened) Nigerians need to understand is that, Nigeria is NOT a nation but a multination country. Yes we are Nigeria brothers and sisters, however, people need to understand that WE Nigerians are different in nature, in culture, in custom, and law. We are different in language- the way we interact and communicate with each other- and these attributes are main essence of effective policing.

Iam saying it and I stand on this, that, there is NO WAY in million years would an Ibo, Ijaw or Hausaman be able to police a Yorubaman (crime mentality) effectively...it's impossible. According to a Yoruba adage 'Ole lo'mo ese ole to lo'ri apata. (only a thief can know the footsteps of his cohorts on the rock). We are just fooling ourselves with the nonsense national police. Country like Nigeria shouldn't be having National police...NO!

Policing is a to do with patrotism. It's a delicate job that requires people's loyalty. For instance British police will not employ someone who has not lived in the country for more than 5 years. It will not employ you to police people if you cannot speak the local language English with the accent. If you are English you cannot be a police officer in Wales if you haven't got the Welsh accent neither can you become Scottish police officer if you don't speak English with Scottish accent (but they are all known British)

The only way out in Nigeria system of policing is states police where people will be able to put their love fortheir people and patrotism they have for their nation into the service.

Before I go, let me ask this question that I always asked at the end of my comments.
WHO IS AFRAID OF STATES POLICE AND WHY?
