Going Green and Improving Electricity Supply (Solar etc)

Improved electricity supply has always been on the politician mandate and no improvement has been recorded since Nigeria got independent. No democratic elected and military government in the past seems to recognise the potential benefit of uninterrupted electricity supply. Now is not even the time to have the debate in the house of rep` or senate. Because NEPA has become money grab venture for the government for offering rare service.
Deregulating electricity power supply is the right thing to do, but will the government do it? I think we can only hope.

The grater challenge the Nigeria government will be facing, few years down the road is the need to reduce our carbon emission, in other to reduce the cause of global warming. The rest of the world are embracing the idea and started to project their emission carbon reduction by 2020 and beyond. This is a huge task and it will require a good governance to establish a good corporate carbon trading that will work for Nigeria economy.

I am using this forum to express the need to use the bill of right to force the government to deregulate power supply and start the renewable energy program before the country is pressured by the developed countries. If Nigeria government refuses to act on demand of UN to reduce its carbon emission, then the country might end up with sanctions as that is always the case.

Therefore there is need for the government to get behind the green energy supply initiative to improve the electricity supply and maintain its economy sustainability in the global standing.

Nigeria is not serious about economic empowerment and developments. Show me a developed country without regular power supply and I will show a country in peril. What our leaders care about are empty promises, they lack passion for the country. Let us estimate the amount of our politicians monies in foreign account and let us estimate the amount of monies we needed to turn our power sector around, then we will discover how foolish our policians are. In addition, let us take a look at our oil sector which is the spinal cord our economy today, our politicians have forgotten that issue of climate change and alternative fuel are all plots against fosil energy reserves. The West has discovered that the only thing that mad middle east and oil producing regions powerful is the presence of crude oil, then how can we make these regions less influencial or less powerful? This signals the development of alternative sources. Instead of our politicians to invest heavily in research on this new technology, they continuing stealing the monies abroad and acting James Bond by using our laws enforcement agencies to manipulate people. Nigeria could not develop without regular power supply, that is the bitter truth!
