AC condemns Ekiti govt on BSES - Rantings of wounded party, says Govt

Dapo Falade, Ado-Ekiti - 31.12.2007

The Ekiti State chapter of the Action Congress (AC) has described the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)-led government in the state as one of the failed projects in 2007.

Speaking against the backdrop of the recent protest by staff of the Broadcasting Service of Ekiti State (BSES) over the poor working condition of the corporation, the party, in a release signed by Mr. Yemi Adaramodu, the head of Dr. Kayode Fayemi Campaign Organisation, said that the protest had vindicated its stand on the alleged non-performance of the PDP government in the state.

“Our often revealed truth that the PDP government is a government of stunts was confirmed yesterday (Friday) by the protest staged by the staff of their grossly abused Broadcasting Service of Ekiti State.

“They have been covering their sore fingers with lies and blackmail through the said state media, now that their beast of burden is down through their crass brinkmanship and incompetence, the truth has come to the fore.

“The PDP state government, which sees the menacing figures of Dr. Fayemi and Ekiti AC in their mirrors daily, could not pull an hair when those they forced into media labour at the BSES confessed that they reeled out lies instead of truth and that thus, their image has been tremendously defiled.

“Here is a government that daily spends millions of Ekiti money to sandpaper their rough integrity in outside media. Here is a government that daily patronises well run media outfits outside the state but at home cares no hoot about the moribund and out of ages equipment of home outfits.

Reacting, Senior Special Assistant to the governor on Public Communications, Mr. Moses Jolayemi, dismissed the AC statement as the rantings of a wounded opposition party that would like to politicise issues that borders on the welfare of the workers of BSES, adding that Governor Segun Oni was doing everything possible to ameliorate the problems of the state broadcasting corporation.
