Osun lawmakers to share N520m

Twenty-six members of the Osun House of Assembly are to collect N520 million as fund for their constituencies’ projects. The sum was allocated in the 2008 budget recently passed into law by the House.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reported that each of the 26 lawmakers would collect N20 million to finance a project in their constituencies.

The lawmakers in the last dispensation throughout their tenure collected N910 million as constituency funds. In 2004, each member collected N5 million, which amounted to N130 million, while in 2005, each member received N10 million, totaling N260 million.

In 2006/2007, they collected N20 million each, totaling N520 million.

Governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola had during the presentation of the 2008 budget to the lawmakers on December 5, 2007, stated that he would continue with the disbursement of funds for constituency projects.

He explained that during his first tenure, the House was an all-PDP members, adding that ``during the current dispensation, the equilibrium has changed, we, however, thank God that we are still the majority.
