LAUTECH’s doctors call off strike

Medical doctors in Ladoke Akintola University of Technology Teaching Hospital (LAUTECH) Osogbo have suspended seven week strike action. A statement issued by the President of Association of Resident Doctors. (ARD) Dr. Fritz Olaoye, said the strike was put off as a mark of honour to the State Chapter of Nigeria Medical Association (NMA), Medical Elders Forum, Secretary to Osun State Government (SSG) Alhaji Fatai Akinbade and Chairman, House Committee on Health, Honourable Rasaq Salinsile who had intervene in the face off between the doctors and management.

The statement added that it was also to allow dialogue with the Osun State governor, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola. The doctors were demanding for payment of revision courserefunds, furnishing of their official rooms and payment of Consolidated Tertiary Institutions Salary Structure (CONTISS) as approved by the federal government.

They were also demanding for the payment of eight months rrears. Dr. Olaoye said the first two demands had been met but the payment of CONTISS was paramount to the striking doctors, adding that the doctors had made several concessions to the management on the matter.
