Neimeth chief gives job and business success tips

By Femi Ibirogba - 31.03.2008

Executive Vice President, Neimeth International Pharmaceutical Plc, Mr. Emmanuel Ekunno, has advised job seekers and people already on the job to take work as God’s gift, not punishment. Mr. Ekunno gave this among several other career and business success tips during a lecture at the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Winners Assembly, Akinyemi Way, Ring Road, Ibadan, Oyo State, on Sunday.

Ekunno, in a paper entitled: “How you can become the person companies will pursue to recruit,” said people searching for jobs should pursue ones compatible with their skills, abilities and interests.

He advised that job applicants should clearly define why they want to work in a particular place. “Accept work as God’s gift, not as punishment and job seekers should clearly state where and why they want to work. Pursue work compatible with your abilities and interests, and learn almost everything about your job, that is about the company you desire and the operating environment,” he stated.

According to him, people already building a career should be hardworking, thinking, refusing the bondage of bribery and the influence of intimidation as well as displaying positive attitudes to work and challenges.

“Be honest about your mistakes on the job, do more than is expected of you, learn to harness your anger and control your spirit, and maintain a positive attitude to challenges and hurdles at work, for attitude is how people observe when you react to situations, either positively or negatively. The work done badly or excellently is a portrait of the person who did it and a parameter for arriving at who you are,” he said.
