Delta govt invites striking college workers for dialogue

Delta State government has invited striking workers of the colleges of education in Warri and Agbor for dialogue over their demand for the implementation of the Consolidated Tertiary Institution Salary Structure (CONTISS)

The government, according to a letter dated January 25, 2008, a copy of which was made available to the Nigerian Tribune, invited the union leaders of the various unions to a dialogue with its officials today at the conference room of the office of the secretary to the state government in Asaba.

The letter, signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, read: “In an effort by the state government at resolving the current industrial crisis which has crippled academic activities at the colleges of education, Warri and Agbor, you are by this letter formally invited to a crucial meeting with officials of the state government on Wednesday, January 30, 2008 at 9 a.m prompt.”
