Shola Adekola, lagos - 31.01.2008
Virgin Nigeria has scaled the hurdle of the internationally-compulsory evaluation system of assessing the operational management and control of airlines with its clearance for listing in the International Operations Safety Audit (IOSA) directory, having successfully completed the intensive IOSA audit.
The clearance of the Nigerian carrier has put it at par with any
airline in the world which has attained the higher compulsory safety standards.
The development has made the airline first in West Africa and eighth in Africa to be listed in the IOSA directory.
IOSA is an internationally recognised quality audit principles, conducting audits in a standardised and consistent manner worldwide.
Reacting, the Chief Executive Officer of Virgin Nigeria, Mr. Conrad Clifford, attributed the feat to its determination to operate in the highest safety standard as a result of the premium Virgin Nigeria placed on safety and security of passengers.
With the clearance of the airline, its hoped of commencing flights into the American airspace has become brighter.
