NDLEA arrests man, cousins for drug traffficking

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested a 45-year-old man, Amogu Ugbaja Kalu, and two others, Ezike Ugochukwu Christian, 34 and Ezike Ikenna Collins, 34 who are first cousins, for testing positive for drug ingestion at the Lagos airport.

Kalu was arrested on Monday, May 26, at about 10 00 p.m. while attempting to board a Virgin Nigeria flight to London. Ezike Ugochukwu Christian, 34 and Ezike Ikenna Collins, 34 were both nabbed on Wednesday night during routine check of passengers on KLM flight from Lagos to Amsterdam at about 10.00 p.m. on their way Athens, Greece, where they live.

Kalu, a father of six children who lives in Lome, Togo, said that he was led by his sponsors to a hotel in Okota area of Lagos where he was given 90 wraps of cocaine to swallow.

He was able to ingest 83 wraps and the remaining 7 was taken away. Kalu, who hails from Ohafia Local Government Area of Abia State, also revealed that he was promised the sum of 3,000 euros.

Christian said that he ingested 100 wraps of cocaine in his hotel room at Festac area of Lagos while Collins confessed to have ingested 80 wraps of cocaine inside a toilet in an eatery near Ago Bus stop Okota. Both suspects said that they were promised 2,000 euros each. They are from Orlu in Imo State.
