Aregbesola to close case Tuesday

30.04.2008

After calling a total of 102 witnesses, Action Congress governorship candidate in Osun State, Mr Rauf Aregbesola, on Tuesday informed the tribunal hearing his petition that he would not call any more witnesses.

He later gave a notice to close his case next Tuesday after he might have tendered the remaining documents agreed on with counsel to Governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola and the other respondents.

Aregbesola’s counsel, Rotimi Akeredolu, SAN, after calling the 102nd witness who came from Ede North local government, sought for adjournment to enable his client tender the remaining documents from Ola Oluwa and Ede North local governments after their inspection by all the parties.

At this stage , the tribunal Chairman, Justice Thomas Naron, asked Akeredolu what he intended doing with the remaining witnesses to which the AC counsel replied that his client was through with calling of witnesses except those who would be subpoenaed.

The petition was thereafter adjourned till Monday next week but another AC counsel, Kola Awodein, SAN pleaded with the tribunal to shift the adjournment date to Wednesday.
