Ogun NURTW boss re-arrested

The chairman of the Ogun State National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW),Alhaji Ibikunle Baruwa, has been re-arrested by the men of the State Police Command over the allegation of involvement in the last week fracas at Kuto and Ita Oshin parks in Abeokuta.

Meanwhile, two persons who received gun shots following the attacks on the parks that claimed lives and property worth millions of naira destroyed have been confirmed dead.

The deceased, who were identified as Segun Fagbohun and John Akinwale, died at an undisclosed hospital in the town.

The NURTW boss was alleged to have been behind the attacks and was subsequently invited by the police who detained him thereafter.

The last week Thursday clash renewed the hostility between the Alhaji Baruwa led state executive and the branch chairmen who opposed his alleged undemocratic and unconstitutional rule.

The anti-riot policemen led by Akin Fatuga arrested five miscreants who attacked the two garages recovering guns, cutlasses and charms.

Two branch chairmen who spoke with the Nigerian Tribune,Alhaji Akeem Bodunrin and Alhaji Haruna Adekunjo, alleged that the NURTW boss masterminded the attack because they opposed his rules.

When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Femi Awoyale, confirmed Baruwa’s invitation and said that he was invited for his alleged involvement in the incident, while investigation continued.
