Afro Hollywood announces 2008 Award nominees - Holds in London Oct. 25

Hollywood Awards has announced the nomination dates scheduled for five cities in Africa and London.
The winners and nominees of this prestigious award have been dubbed outstanding ‘African Ambassadors’ for helping to raise the bar with their various contributions in film, arts and culture of Africa.
Mike Abiola, founder and CEO of Afro Hollywood said, “the image of Africa is beginning to change in the minds of Europeans and amongst the diaspora especially within the British Africans and Caribbean communities.
“Nollywood is uniting Africans and Caribbeans, it presents a good vehicle for corporate communication. Afro Hollywood Awards celebrating excellence in the film industry is a platform to exhibit new products and services.
“It is on this premise that, we celebrate the announcement of the nomination launch of the 13th annual African Film Awards a.k.a Afro Hollywood awards 2008 to hold in five cities of London, Lagos, Abuja, Accra, Dar e Salam and port Harcourt”.
Nollywood has exposed some key cities in Africa as tourism destination. Tourism heads at those destinations now need to embrace Nollywood to help boost tourism.
The awards ceremony will take place in London on Saturday, 25th October, 2008 at the London Hilton Metropole.
The Afro Hollywood awards has been holding in London for the past 13 years, where it has been promoting African film, arts and culture in the multi cultural capital of Europe.
Golda John, Co founder and UK co-ordinator says, “It is gratifying for us to witness the contributions the awards is making to the film industry and the positive effect in the lives of the players in the industry as well as people in the Diaspora.
“Afro Hollywood awards is dedicated to promoting Nollywood films and other African films as pride of Africa to Europeans and Africans alike while encouraging film practitioners to strive for excellence. It is worthy of note that Nollywood films are now the reference point during discussions on African culture and tradition even among academicians. As British schools make adjustment to its curriculum to commence the teaching of African history and lessons of slave trade, Nollywood movies currently showing in not less than six UK television stations on SKY network will be used as teaching aids. It is instructive that practitioners improve their skills”.

Mount Zion films to release Silent Cry

the latest releases of
Mount Zion Film productions. The story revolves round a man, pastor Joseph Mayowa who does not have time for his family. He devotes his whole attention to his secular work and his church.
This attitude of negligence is greatly affecting his wife and their two children. Mrs Mayowa secretly bears the pains of her husband’s unbecoming attitude alone especially as she does not want to expose her husband’s behaviour to the church congregation. Despite this, the duo counsel other couples and mend their broken homes.
Along the line, pastor Mayowa’s old time girl friend in secondary school, Moji, meets him after they have lost contact for about 24 years. Moji pressurizes him to refresh their old time love but Mayowa refuses all her advances with the reason that they are now both married and more so that he is now a born again and even being a pastor. However, this does not stop Moji from continuing to pester pastor Mayowa.
The last plan of Moji is to trail him from port-Harcourt to Lagos, where the latter has been invited to preach in a sister church. Moji craftly ‘smuggles’ herself into his hotel room. This leaves the innocent pastor puzzled as he wonders how the woman gets to know about his programme and even knows the hotel he’s being accommodated.
Meanwhile, serious battles ensue between the two of them in the room. His host pastor, Joel, later meets Moji in pastor Mayowa’s room and pastor Joel reports the matter to pastor philips, the General Overseer of his church and after an emergency Ministers meeting, he is suspended.
During the spiritual incarceration, pastor Mayowa changes his attitude towards his family and the suspension is lifted and he gets restored back to his pastoral work.
This 95-minute movie proffered solutions for everyone passing through situations they cannot share or discuss with people.
Silent Cry features artistes like Israel Ore-Adewole, Florence Adegunle, ace gospel singer, – Tope Alabi, Lekan Asikhia and many others. The executive producers are Evangelists Mike and Gloria Bamiloye. Elvon Jarrett directed the movie.
