... As Mark condoles Suswam

The President of the Senate, David Mark has expressed condolence with the government and people of Benue State over the outbreak of cholera in parts of the state which has claimed more than 10 lives.

Senator Mark, in a statement on Saturday, urged the state governor, Hon. Gabriel Suswam to immediately take adequate measures to arrest the situation.

“Whatever needs to be done should be considered urgently to bring the situation under control. We cannot afford to lose lives that ordinarily should be saved at this time,” the Senate President said, adding that the intervention rate of the governor Suswam led team has however been commendable.

According to the Senate President, there was the need to emphasize the preventive health rather than curative.

Mark also charged the people to improve on personal hygiene which he said will help to prevent any further spread.

He called for calm among the people, adding that since the government had intervened to curtail the spread of the disease, there was no need to panic.

The Senate President also pledged his co-operation with the state government. He also appealed to Benue indigenes to support the administration of governor Suswam in its bid to take the state to the next level.
