Organising secretary for General Muhammadu Buhari Campaign Organisation, Engineer Buba Galadima, has torn the 7-point agenda of President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua into shreds, opining that Nigeria might have been doomed with it.
The All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP) stalwart said Nigerians should be looking beyond the 7-point agenda, which has now become the sing song of almost every government official, because Yar’Adua was not the originator.
Galadima, who spoke with Sunday Tribune in Abuja weekend, said even President Yar’Adua seems not to understand the philosophy of the agenda, a reason he said the implementation would not bring any desired result.
He said he was aware that some members of the Northern Union crafted the 7-point agenda and offered it to Yar’Adua ,claiming that the crafting of the agenda was done in the house of one of his friends.
According to him, close to a year after Yar’Adua was sworn in as the President of Nigeria, Nigerians were still not familiar with what the 7-point agenda was all about ,talk more of knowing how each of them would apply themselves to the implementation.
Galadima said the inability of Yar’Adua to decode the philosophy behind the 7-point agenda was the reason his government could not point to anything as its achievement since May 29, 2007 as he challenged any of the government supporters to name one achievement of President Yar’Adua.
Galadima said he knew Yar’Adua quite well since according to him, they were both school mates at the Ahmadu Bello University between 1971 and 1972, adding that Nigerians could get a true picture of what Yar’Adua could do to them by studying his eight years reign in Katsina State.
Said he, ‘There is nothing in the 7-point agenda and that is why it would not work. I learnt that the agenda was haphazardly put together by some members of the Northern Union. I know this because it was done in the house of one of my friends.
‘Yar’Adua cannot understand what the 7-point agenda is all about because it is not coming from the inner caucus of people who could really articulate a position for the government and that is why we are where we are today.
‘Yar’Adua was the governor of Katsina State for eight years, if you want to know what he can do for Nigeria go to Katsina State and see what he did and how he ruled.
‘Let me say this, the revival of the power sector is part of the 7-point agenda of Yar’Adua. Forget about the scandal, would you say you are satisfied with the electricity situation in Nigeria today?’he asked.
