Commission (OSSIEC) yesterday, in Osogbo, held a bye-election into Ward 7 of the Osogbo Local Government Council, despite of its boycott by some political parties.
The News Agency Nigeria (NAN) reports that the boycott was similarly experienced at the general local government polls in December last year.
It was, however, observed at yesterday’s voting that election materials were distributed to all the 18 polling centres in the ward as early as 8.00 a.m..
Policemen and officers of the Civil Defence Corps were also on hand to provide security for the electoral personnel.
Few voters were seen in most of the polling units while people went about their businesses, since there was no restriction.
The bye-election was ordered following the death of the former councilor in the ward, Mr Raimi Yussuf, who died in January after a protracted illness.
NAN reports that Action Congress led the boycott of the poll,ss alleging irregularities.
