Professional Football League( NPFL) Executive Secretary, Alhassan Yakmut has said that the league board would sanction some of the referees that officiated during the first stanza of the league.
Speaking with Globacom League Update in Abuja, the former Special Assistant to the Sports Minister said the secretariat of NPFL has been compiling the statistics of all the referees and would make the result known soon.
According to him “In the second stanza of the league, only the best referees would be allowed to handle matches. “Based on the reports submitted by the match commissioners, we would ensure that those who scored below average would be sanctioned for the remaining part of the league, it is only those above average who will be allowed to continue.”
He said that those referees who would be sanctioned would also include those who had problems with their matches, and also those who did not have problem, but were not up to the task.
“We want to give the sponsor and the fans value for their money in the second stanza of the league,” Yakmut said.
