Attempt on Adesanya’s life: Court rejects convict’s bail application

SPOKESMAN of the Ogun State House of Assembly. Hon (Dr.) Adetokunbo Oshin, has described as false the rumour been peddled round the State, that the House will commence move to impeach Governor Gbenga Daniel on Friday.

Oshin, who is the Chairman, House Committee on Information, said this on Sunday, in a telephone interview with the Nigerian Tribune, while reacting to some newspapers’ publication that arrangements had been concluded to begin the impeachment process of Governor Daniel.

According to Oshin, “I was shocked when I read the news in some newspapers. This news is misleading and inciting. There was never a time that the lawmakers thought of impeaching Mr. Governor. There was absolutely nothing like that. Those peddling this rumour should desist from it. We are committed in justifying the confidence reposed in us by our constituencies.”

He contended that the House should be allowed to perform its oversight functions which according to him, is important, saying that the present investigation on the financial status of the State should not be mis- construed as political, rather an effort geared towards sustaining the State.

The lawmaker, who is one of the arrowheads of the lawmakers alleged to be opposing Governor Daniel, added that what the lawmakers were doing was in the best interest of the state.

Also, a member of the House, Hon. Durotolu Bankole, believed to be Daniel’s loyalists, submitted that he was not aware of the impeachment plot by the G-15, saying any attempt to commence the process would be resisted.

Bankole said, “Am not aware of any impeachment move but I must say here that any attempt by the so called G-15 members to impeach the Governor will be resisted. We will give them a good fight. Impeachment is not a “play –play thing”. It is procedural.
