Possibilities Unlimited IV

The Law of Exposure
The more exposed you
are, the more
opportunities you will see and seize. Like I said in “velocity”, it is very important to seize the moments of life when they show up, but truly how can you seize what you cannot identify. You need to be exposed before you can explore opportunities or life will continue to exploit you because you are an illiterate.
You and I could be limited by our level of exposure. I have listened to people who have traveled beyond the African continent. There is a unique similarity among all of them. Though their language may remain local but their perception changes, so also their acceptance of the ‘usual’. Sometimes my dear reader, you could have been used to the abnormal that when you are exposed to the normal, you can’t bring yourself to admit it. These people on arrival in the country, refuse to accept the things they have accepted before traveling. Now they have been exposed, their eyes have been enlightened and they have seen that life can be better and should be better than what they have been used to. Like I have been discussing in this pump action, you need to understand that possibilities are unlimited for you. I am an advocate of the getting out of the box, before you can think effectively out of the box. I also believe that you might not come to terms with the possibilities available until you expose yourself beyond the present limitations.
Your life-style and perception can be altered within a minute of exposure. I have learnt that most of a man’s achievement come from the envy of his neighbour. But what if a man does not know what his neighbour has achieved? How can he do better? I prefer to be a school boy in the midst of principals than to be a principal over school boys. You cannot quantify the level of growth that you experience when you expose yourself to people who are better than you are. At first you might feel a bit intimidated, but it is better. You cannot afford to be proud over mediocrity. Exposure to challenging environment can play a vital part in your growth and stride towards your next level.
Get Out of Your Zone
As an addicted reader and learner, I have been exposed to “unimaginable” possibilities on the pages of books. But I quite agree that a trip beyond your comfort, normal and usual zone has the capacity to change your life forever.
I can still remember the first time I took water melon. I don’t want to bore you with the tale but it was a “rich” friend that offered me the priviledge. I took the fruit and felt it must be a fruit that is very expensive and only the “rich” can afford it. Honesty, poverty is a thing of the mind which can be enhanced through lack of exposure.
You might be broke because it is temporary but poverty is eternal. It is worse than acid. You need a thorough cleansing in your mind before you can get rid of this epidermic and virus called poverty. I have been there so I know exactly what I am talking about. You can have money in your pocket and still be poor in your MIND. For days as I journeyed around town, I became interested in trying the fruit once again but I felt I couldn’t afford it, nevertheless the exposure pushed me to buy one and discovered it was ridiculously cheap. I guess, if I had not been exposed to it by a friend I probably would not have tried it out. Now, is it not possible that somethings in life are eluding you because you are not exposed? No, think about it: you might be locked up in your ignorance, simply because you are not exposed. You need to take a trip, travel and see that your view of life is only a fraction and not the total and absolute factual view. Your decisions have been based on your level of exposure. The more exposed you become the more possibilities that are bound to open up to you.
I remember a highly respected man who traveled out of the country and visited a friend’s university. He came back to town and decided to do the same because he has been exposed beyond his circle. Now his own university ranks among the best in the country all because he exposed himself beyond his circle. I can imagine what will happen to your career if you also consciously practiced the law of exposure. You can break your barriers once you know that someone somewhere has done the same. The human instinct will propel you to want to achieve the same feat or even surpass it. You have to expose yourself before you can claim champion. Have you forgotten elementary school? The best in a school can become the worst in another. Until you expose yourself to high quality, you can claim to have the best quality. Stop comparing yourself with mediocre, compare and compete with those doing greatly and you can only know how great they are doing, if you get exposed.
