Taraba to reintroduce environmental sanitation

Roads leading to Awka, AnamTaraba State government has made its intention known to reintroduce the monthly environment sanitation.

The Commissioner for Environment and Urban Development, Mallam Biyos Auta, said this in an interview with the Nigerian Tribune in Jalingo, recently.

Mallam Auta, who lamented the poor sanitary condition of the state, also said the state government intended to reintroduce the environmental sanitation in government establishments.

He said the state capital and the 28 towns earmarked by the state as urban areas would be provided with more refuse collection containers and more sanitary inspectors would be employed to ensure compliance with sanitary laws.

The commissioner called on the people of the state to partner with the government to ensure a cleaner and healthier environment, adding that government alone could not guarantee clean environment.

In a related development, residents of Jalingo had been warned against illegal linking of water pipes into their residence.
