Pepsi commends Dream Team IV

Niyi Alebiosu, Lagos - 28.08.2008

Pepsi has described members of the Dream Team IV that won the silver for Nigeria at Beijing Olympics as heroes of our time.

The soft drink giant, through its Football Academy, contributed seven graduates to the Dream Team IV to the Olympics and has consistently backed the team since beginning of the campaign in China.

Spokesman for Pepsi, Mazen Al-Masri, said “the fact the Dream Team played to the zenith of the football event at the Olympics and able to hold their own against the best in the world in the eyes of Pepsi qualifies them as heroes.”

Al-Masri charged the boys to be proud of their contributions to raise Nigeria’s profile in soccer in Beijing as they were not disgraced.

“In fact, they should hold their heads high that they were able to put up a spectacular performance at the Games despite the odds they faced on their way to China.”

He stated that Osaze Odemwingie, Isaac Promise, Solomon Okoronkwo, Ambrose Vanzekin, Onyekachi Apam, Yinka Adedeji, all products of the Pepsi Football Academy and their teammates should expect a heroes welcome on their return to the country.

“This heart-warming performance put up by the boys has further encouraged Pepsi to continue to invest in the development of youth football in Nigeria,” he said.
