CHAIRMAN,Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, Alhaji Sani Lulu Abdullahi, says the Super Eagles would have beaten Tunisia last weekend in Rades if the Nigerian team had not given the host team too much respect.
The former FCT Director of Sports described the match as a technical one that could have gone either way.
“Both teams showed a lot of respect to each other, and I expected the Eagles to make good use of their opportunities to gather the maximum points.
However, we thank God for his mercies and grace” Lulu told Tribunesports in Abuja.
He assured all Nigerians that the Super Eagles would defeat the Carthage Eagles of Tunisia when they meet at the Abuja National Stadium on September 6.
“People should stop dragging me to history. I was not part of the 1977 and 1985 team that Tunisia stopped from going to the World Cup,” he asserted.
This is a new dispensation, we are committed to making Nigerians smile, and part of the way to make this happen is for us to qualify the Super Eagles for the World Cup, and we are poised to level any opposition to get this done, even Tunisia cannot stop us from doing that”.
He lauded President Umaru Yar’Adua for the support given to the Federation towards ensuring that the World Cup dream becomes a realit
